Description

In one of the most unique and picturesque wine regions of the world Alsace (France), Riesling and Pinot Gris grow side by side in the best sites down the hills of the Vosges Mountains. After visiting the region in the late ’90s, it seemed logical for Tim that if Clare Valley had the conditions to produce world-class Rieslings, it could also deliver quality Pinot Gris and the first vines were planted in our Ladera vineyard. Three decades later we are proudly making one of the most popular white wines in Australia.

Corella pear, stone fruits, honeydew melon and subtle lychee are the core of the 2026 vintage, all backed up by a refreshing acidity that gives the wine a crisp crunchy fruit character. True to our style and undoubtedly another classic release of our Pinot Gris.

Winemaking Notes

Harvested in the cool of the early morning, Pinot Gris from optimum vineyard sites throughout the Clare Valley and Wrattonbully was crushed, chilled to 5 degrees, pressed and the pressings separated. A cool and steady fermentation for two weeks has produced maximum lifted varietal fruit expression. Individual vineyard parcels were filtered before carefully blending. The wine has been cold and protein stabilised to industry standards, filtered and bottled under screw cap to encapsulate the flavours and ensure freshness.

Growing Conditions

Vintage 2026 was another vintage to test the resilience of grape growers across wine regions in South Australia, with no exception to Clare Valley. A frost event early Spring during budburst, a dry spell from November and untimely rain in March all put a dent on crop levels and ultimately only the good vineyard practices and careful winemaking delivered quality wines.

Food Pairing

A great food-wine; enjoy while it is young and vibrant, with Asian cuisine, seafood and salads.
