Description
Later in Mr Mick’s time at Leasingham, he trialled the production of a product known as Bin 9 Riesling. The wine was rich and textural in the mid palate, with moderate residual sugar, and a mouth-watering and cleansing acidity that set it clearly apart from the Bin 5 and Bin 7. Today, Mr Mick Late Harvest Riesling revives the intent of the Bin 9, a Riesling for all people, all occasions, and a special treat that is hard to find in our great region.
This wine has white peach and lychee aromas and flavours, made in the same style as Mr Mick’s Bin 9. With well lifted fruit, a hint of complex Botrytis character and a cleansing acid finish, it is an interesting wine with generous length of flavour.
Winemaking Notes
This wine is made from Riesling grapes, late harvested after careful development of a touch of Botrytis- noble rot throughout the vineyard. Delicate, but luscious, with cleansing acid, this wine exhibits the characters you would expect from some of Germany’s finest Auslesen. The fruit was hand-picked, must chilled, pressed and fermented with a neutral yeast gently for 14 days, allowing maximum expression of the clean Riesling fruit. With careful cellaring, expect enjoyment from this wine for 10 years and beyond.
Food Pairing
Enjoy chilled with a range of desserts or will match well with your favourite cheeses!
